What We Do

lindentank

The City of Miamisburg is a provider of water services to its residents. The Water Distribution Division is responsible for operating and maintaining facilities and infrastructure, while the Water Treatment Facility (WTF) is responsible for treating and softening water.

Hydrant and Water Main Flushing

Among the regular measures taken to maintain the system is hydrant/water main flushing. This procedure is conducted annually over the course of 2-3 weeks each spring. Hydrant flushing does not affect every resident, but water may be discolored at times in certain sections of the City. The discolored water is safe for drinking and bathing, but can stain clothes being laundered. If clothing is inadvertently stained, residents should keep the items wet until rust remover can be obtained. Packets are available free of charge at both the Civic Center and the Service Center.

Registering for Water and Sewer Service

Residents can register for water and sewer service in person at the Civic Center. Customer billing occurs monthly, and payments can be made online, by mail or in person at the Civic Center. Personal checks, cash (in person only), automatic bank account withdrawal, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express are accepted forms of payment.

Major System Improvements

The City recently completed five-year, phased-in rate increases for water and sewer service to fund major system improvements. These projects totaled over $69 million in cost and included the addition of water softening. Prior to those rate increases, a water and sewer rate survey conducted in 2014 by the City of Oakwood indicated that Miamisburg customers paid a combined rate that ranked in the middle one-third among 63 providers in southwest Ohio.
