Earlier this week, city leaders attended the dedication to the Miami Valley Fire District’s new fire engine 55.
Firefighters and others attending took part in the traditional “push-in ceremony”. The ceremony dates back to the days of horse-drawn equipment when members had to push the equipment into the bay after each call.
The engine is a Sutphen model, manufactured in 2025. The cost for just the engine is $590,137, or $675,137 with the engine and additional loose equipment purchased to stock the truck.
Fire engine 55 will be housed at Station 55 located at 5204 N. Springboro Pike.
